The Project
People have been asking Sympli to introduce a plus size line for many years now. We were flattered by the requests and assumed they came from an appreciation of how Sympli's strong grading system and styles have provided fun, wearable fashion for fuller figured women. As we considered the project, however, we came to realize that special considerations were necessary to offer a figure flattering shape while also providing the coverage and styling plus size women are searching for.
The Design Process
Models are an essential part of the design process at Sympli and were very fortunate to find several women with different body types and heights. Many rounds of samples were made for each model with meticulous adjustments and re-adjustments to accommodate every aspect of each woman’s individual shape. The Sympli design process is unique in that every size is draped on real bodies. Special attention was paid to the placement of style lines and details, adding pockets, angles and length wherever possible to flatter the figure while maintaining shape. We quickly discovered that the nuances in sizing Grand would become its most unique feature. We decided that every stage of the process must encompass style, size, shape, height and comfort simultaneously. The final product was only approved if it flattered and satisfied ALL of the models.
The Formula
Sympli Grand offers size range 0G - 3G. Each size is available in Signature and Demi fit. These fits provide two distinct lengths to accommodate occasion, season, height and comfort. Grand offers a choice of neckline, style, length and sleeve length all specifically tuned to what plus sized women need and desire.
The Heart
Sympli Grand was a personal project from the very beginning. We vowed to create shapely garments that didn’t hide the plus size figure, but instead emphasized its best features. We maintained close contact with our many existing plus size customers (in addition to our models), interviewing them about their frustrations with the plus size market and what they would like to see change. Sympli Grand sets out to fill the glaring lack of real fashion for these women. Our designs and concept offers more freedom and choice with a variety of fun, stylish options designed specifically for a fuller figure while maintaining the versatility, flexibility, fabrication and comfort Sympli is renowned for. With countless hours of time, love and laughter, we have created a line that provides both the staples and the unique pieces required in every woman’s wardrobe. It is our profound hope to provide these women with garments that let them celebrate beauty comfort and confidence. Sympli Grand can boast that it is truly made to fit with love for every body.
